Gunny
Gunny was not an ordinary dog. If you ever met him, you would know that. From the moment we got him, he was always full of life and excitement. Gunny was the happiest, most heartfelt dog to ever walk this earth. He enjoyed every moment of life, from hiking adventures to his favorite jet ski rides.
In 2023, Gunny was diagnosed with Canine Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). Doctors told us that the disease would eventually take control of his body. This disease brought many challenges for Gunny, beginning with the loss of function in his hind legs. Even with these difficult obstacles, Gunny continued to enjoy life with the help of a wheelchair.
As the years went on, Gunny’s condition continued to worsen. Eventually, he lost all bowel control. Yet through all of this, he would still tap his front paws with excitement whenever he got a donut or heard his favorite word: “walk.”
Gunny truly embodied the meaning of a fighter. Every day that he battled this terrible disease, he somehow found the energy and enthusiasm to enjoy the things he loved most. Up until his final breath, he continued to run around full of life in his wheelchair. When he fell, he got back up.
We miss Gunny more than words can express, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now pain-free, running freely, and watching over us. May Gunny’s memory never be forgotten.
We love you so much, Gunny.
